Kay K Couture Jewelry

So we went from beautiful weather last weekend, to snow on and off this week! I still haven't switched my closet because it's been so unpredictable. Just dreaming of springtime and hoping it gets here soon!

I obviously love making a statement through my outfits but especially with jewelry! You will most definitely always see me rocking a huge pair of statement earrings. That's why I had a blast styling these jewels from Kay K Couture Jewelry!

These turquoise beaded statement earrings add the perfect pop of color to any outfit! Here I paired them with a dress and a leather jacket. I think these would be so cute with a simple v neck tee and ripped jeans to dress it up! They are only $22.99 and they also come in Blush, Gold, Pink, Silver, Violet and Black

The other pair of statement earrings I styled were the Gypsy Blues Tassels. Obviously tassels are my signature but the geometric shapes add so much dimension! These are perfect for your summer vaca! Plus they are on sale right now for only $14.99.

This Stone Wave Cluster necklace I paired with a simple blue dress. The blues and greens are so pretty together. It reminds me of some J.Crew jewels! This necklace would also be super cute with a blouse or just a graphic tee! And for only $9.99 it's a must!

You definitely have to check out Kay K Couture and all the sales she's having. I spy some super cute rope jewelry I may need to add to my growing collection! Make sure to follow them on Instagram as well to see all their new arrivals!

Which pieces are your favorite?!

Thank you Kay K Couture for the opportunity to collaborate! All opinions are my own.

Zaful Think Pink & Grey

Every time I wear pink I instantly feel like I'm Elle Woods. I literally think of the court room scene with her strutting in with an entire pink outfit. I saw this sweater on Zaful and absolutely knew I needed it! The color is the perfect shade of pink & I love wearing brights in the winter. It makes the days seem less gloomy am I right?! I wore it up around my neck, but you can pull it down off the shoulder too for a night out. I sized up so that it was super big & was cozy enough on the cold streets of NYC. Obviously I paired it with pink mirrored shades & a plaid pink scarf.

Choker sweaters are so trendy right now so I definitely fell in love with this grey one from Zaful. It is one-size but the style is definitely cropped. Logan paired it with black leggings & fringe booties for a cute casual look! I comes in other great winter colors like black, dark green, auburn & light pink. Both this sweater & the pink are under $30! Perfect if you spent too much on Christmas gifts like I did... Oops. For shipping I would allow 7-10 days for international.

Make sure to follow Zaful on Facebook for the latest deals!

10 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Hate on Greek Life

With all of the negative media surrounding Greek Life today it's easy for people who were never involved to jump in. Being a very active member of the Greek community in college I've put together 10 reasons why you shouldn't hate on Greek Life.

1. Philanthropy

I did more service and volunteer hours in college than I have at any other point in my life. As a member of a sorority we were required to have a certain number of service hours each semester. We also raised thousands of dollars for our own philanthropies and many others in the Greek community.

2. Academics

Academics are extremely important to greeks. Each sorority or fraternity has academic requirements a member has to hit in order to be an active member. Our chapter had a Scholarship chair that organized study tables and incentives to get good grades. Study nights at the sorority house were always a good time.

3. Leadership

Greek life gives you the opportunity to take on leadership positions within your organization. President, Social Standards, Apparel, Archives, Rituals, and countless others each elected annually. Taking on a larger role within your sorority or fraternity can help prepare you for the "real world." You delegate tasks, are held accountable, attend meetings, plan events and so much more.

4. Small Talk

This seems silly but after doing 4 years of Formal Recruitment I think I could sit in a room with anyone and be able to carry on a good conversation. I know any fellow sorority girl would agree. Small talk is a skill you are forced to use on a daily basis and this skill is definitely perfected through the recruitment process.

5. Networking

With an extensive reach of alumnae all over the country the networking possibilities are endless. Alumnae are always willing to help with that phone call or extra recommendation to get you the job. Chances are at some point in life your resume will end up in the hands of someone who was also involved in Greek life. That common link is an instant advantage.

6. Panhellenic

Not only do you form connections with women in your own sorority but you find friendships within all of them. Many events involve coming together as a community to raise money or awareness. My family is the perfect picture of being Panhellenic as we all joined different sororities. No matter the letters we're all Greek together.

7. Tradition

Greek life has a sense of tradition hundreds of years old. Each year a new group of women or men learn these traditions that have been passed down. The crest, badge, songs, rituals are all special to each organization. You are a part of something that is so much bigger than yourself.

8. Friendship

I have made countless friendships through Greek life. Starting school I think every college freshman wants to find that core group of friends. Once you go through recruitment and get a bid it's like having instant best friends. Lasting friendships that truly are -- not four years, but for life.

9. Legacy

Not only do you leave your legacy with your chapter after you graduate but to your little sister or future daughter.  It is so exciting to think that one day someone could follow in your footsteps and share your rituals and traditions. How many other organizations can you have a legacy in?

10. Sisterhood

The bond of sisterhood is eternal. I have been forever touched and blessed to have the gift of sisterhood. Sisters like my anchor angel Ali are the reason I am proud to be a member of Greek life.

Bonus: I even ended up meeting my future husband through Greek Life!

Engagement Picture Prep

For those of you that know me personally you know I am obsessed with taking pictures. I am and always will be that girl that stops a party to take a group photo. I take photos with each individual friend at the party. I also will shamelessly take "candids" for the gram. At least I admit it right?

Anyways I always knew engagement pictures would be the holy grail of my photo obsession. I've done countless Pinterest  research for poses, props and outfits. A few weekends ago Jonathan and I had our engagement photo shoot! I don't know if I went too all out but this is a list of things I did to prepare.

1. Nails- An obvious must for photos, plus you will have pictures of your ring close up.

2. Makeup Appointment- I wasn't sure if this was necessary but after thinking about it more definitely a must, I mean you have these pictures forever right?! I got my makeup done at Sephora and they did an amazing job!

3. Blowout- A must, hair has to be on point. I got mine blown out at my sister in law's salon Studio E! If you live in Pittsburgh definitely check it out!

4. Eyebrows- Also done @ Studio E!

5. Props- I made a few props for the shoot including my favorite quote from Sweet Home Alabama inspired by Pinterest.

6. Outfits- Obviously you want to coordinate with your Mr. so I decided to go for the preppy neutral fall look. We mixed in plaid, quilted vests, cowl neck sweaters & boots. A color pallet of tan, navy, brown and red!

Thank you so much Sarah for taking our photos!  Check out her website if you are looking for a professional photographer! I cannot wait to see how the rest of them turn out. Here is a preview of them so far:
